Today, John and I took advantage of an opportunity to see and hear Barbra Streisand at a dress rehearsal for her ‘Back to Brooklyn’ concert tour which starts next week. We drove to Philadelphia. John took the afternoon off from work. We decided we couldn’t pass up the chance — Barbra Streisand is a 20th century icon of music, stage, and screen.

Of course we also enjoyed the chance to see our musician friends in performance.

Part of the fun today was seeing and hearing our friend Ming and other musicians we know in the orchestra. A full orchestra is rarely put together for concerts these days, so it was a real treat to hear this one.

There were also many musicians we knew in the audience. The auditorium at Temple University was filled with excitement, anticipation, and camaraderie.

Barbra delivered powerful performances in a voice that remains strong and beautiful and unequivocally hers.

It was a privilege to look back with her on a career spanning over 50 years. We left not only remembering her songs, but also her message of gratitude, and wish for us all to take better care of each other and our planet.

live. enjoy. repeat.
