There’s nothing like a breakthrough to make you feel good.

This week the construction team cut an opening in our basement wall. They did it by removing an existing window and cutting away the concrete wall below it. The opening provides access to our new basement area.

The last time we saw the new basement space, which was months ago, it looked like this.

Soon afterwards it got closed in when framing for the kitchen floor was put in place.

The space had been inaccessible ever since, unless you were inclined to crawl in through the one window opening that the room has (I ventured down there once out of curiosity).

So, this week we had an opportunity to really explore the new basement. It feels good to have this remaining area of the house connected — like the final piece of the puzzle has been added.

live. enjoy. repeat.
