Feeling Very Fortunate

With our house partially open to the elements, we were a little concerned yesterday morning when we heard the weather forecast. A severe weather warning had been issued, and heavy rain was forecast for the next 24 hours.

Our concern was that we might have water leaking into the house. So, we checked around, made sure the pump outside the basement was working (it wasn’t but Dan fixed it), added a piece of drainpipe outside the bathroom to divert water away from the house, and kept our fingers crossed. Come bedtime it seemed that we were faring well, and that Sean and his guys had done a very good job of securing the blue tarp on the roof.

Lying in bed with the window open I listened to the rain falling outside and appreciated how kind Mother Nature has been to us during construction. This past winter was our mildest in years with no snow to speak of.

Except, of course, for the freak storm at the end of October that left us without power for 5 days. Fortunately, that storm now seems like a distant memory.

live. enjoy. repeat.
