Several months ago Dan and I discussed not having any house guests once we were in the thick of our construction project. We both agreed that this was a sensible plan.
However, Dan mentioned a couple of weeks ago that our friend Kris would be staying in the guest room later in the month. Kris arrived from Illinois by car this evening. She is here to help her daughter Nicole move out of her NYU dorm.
In addition to Kris, our friends Larry and Joanne recently called to ask if they could stay on the weekend. They will be driving from the Pittsburgh area.
All of our guests have been told we are in the midst of construction and have not been deterred. We figure if they are up for it, then so are we. We will have fun serving them from our kitchenette and entertaining them in our condensed living space.
Tonight we served Pasta with Shrimp and Pesto Sauce (pesto from one of my pots in the freezer).
Dan has been perfecting his secret recipe – toaster oven shrimp.
Kris seemed happy to have a home cooked meal after a 12 hour drive.
We have guests staying every night through to Monday in our only guest room. Kris arrived tonight, leaves Friday. Larry and Joanne arrive Friday, leave Sunday. Kris returns Sunday, leaves Monday.
We only have one loo in the house now, but there’s always Johnny-on-the-spot beyond the dumpster. Fortunately Dan kept the candelabra out of storage for any trips that have to be made in the dark.
live. enjoy. repeat.
